“This action targets three containers that arrived at Sunda Kelapa Port, Jakarta, on Wednesday 10 December 2025, as well as two trucks loaded with balpres on the Palembang-Lampung toll road on Wednesday 3 December 2025,” said Nirwala in a press conference at the Customs Headquarters, East Jakarta, Thursday (11/12).
Nirwala explained that the first action involved three containers brought by KM Indah Costa. The ship is known to have arrived at Kijang Harbor, Riau Islands and was secured at Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Jakarta.
According to him, two containers contained illegal garment products, while the other contained cigarette production machines.
“During an examination of the manifest, it was discovered that KM Indah Costa was transporting 44 containers, of which 13 contained goods. Of the 13 containers, officers found three containers with notifications of mixed goods and prayer mats which were suspected or indicated to contain illegal goods,” he explained.
Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budhi Utama explained that one cigarette making machine has the capacity to produce 2,000 to 3,000 cigarettes per minute. He said that state excise revenue could potentially evaporate due to the production of cigarettes without excise.
“With just one machine or one set of machines, we can lose state revenue by producing cigarettes without duty, the capacity per minute can be almost 2,000 to 3,000 cigarettes per minute,” said Djaka.
Two Trucks Containing Illegal Garments Were Also Confiscated
Customs and Excise also took action against two trucks containing garments packaged in ball presses at KM 116 of the Palembang-Lambung toll road.
Nirwala explained that the action began with information from the public regarding the movement of trucks carrying ballpresses suspected to be illegal clothing from Jambi to Jakarta.
“This information was immediately followed up by the P2 Team (Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation) of Customs, which also received support from BAIS TNI personnel and coordinated with the West Sumatra Customs and Excise regional office,” explained Nirwala.
During the monitoring process, his party found two trucks stopping at the rest area and transporting new apparel from various brands. The apparel bears the country of origin label, ie
made in China
and
made in Bangladesh
.
Nirwala explained that the two truck drivers admitted that they were only carrying out orders to take the truck from Suban, Jambi, to Jakarta.
“Both of them received the truck in a condition that was fully loaded and equipped with travel documents. As a follow-up, the two vehicles have now been taken to the head office for further research,” he concluded.
