Ahmed Al Ahmed, a Muslim man who managed to seize the perpetrator’s rifle

, on Sunday (14/12), is now conscious after undergoing surgery.
The man of Lebanese-Australian descent was also injured when he carried out his heroic action to disarm the rifle from the hands of one of the shooters.

, news of Ahmed’s condition came from a post by New South Wales Premier Chris Minns who visited him in hospital.
Through uploads on Minns’ social media, a photo of Ahmed can be seen lying in a hospital bed with Minns sitting next to him.
The 43-year-old man met with Minns on Monday (15/12), and Minns praised him as a “true hero.”
The term ‘true hero’ was made by Minns, because “his (Ahmed’s) extraordinary bravery undoubtedly saved many lives when he disarmed a terrorist at enormous personal risk,” as quoted

Meanwhile, Ahmed is a father of two daughters.He was hit several times in the shoulder while confronting one of the perpetrators, according to

Ahmed Al Ahmed is a vegetable trader who was near Bondi Beach when the incident took place.
The two shooters, who were later identified as a father and his son, targeted the Jewish community who were celebrating Hanukkah Day in the area.This incident killed 15 people including a 10 year old child.
Ahmed’s heroic action was recorded by the cellphone camera of an eyewitness who was also at the location.The video then spread on social media and went viral.
In the video, Ahmed, dressed in a white top, can be seen grabbing the gunman from behind, grabbing the rifle from him, then pointing the rifle back at the man.
The shooter was seen retreating towards the bridge, where another shooter was located.Ahmed then put the rifle he had seized on the ground.
After securing the perpetrator’s weapon, Ahmed’s cousin, Jozay Alkanj, said that Ahmed was shot in the upper left shoulder and was shot twice by another perpetrator.
Ahmed’s other cousin, Mustapha, immediately helped him and took him to St George Hospital.
Ahmed’s action immediately received praise on the internet.Many netizens expressed their appreciation for what he had done.
The father also went to the hospital to accompany Ahmed to undergo surgery for a gunshot wound.
