Comic Books
on December 7 reported that the design team focused on blending historical elements, such as bells, swords and daggers with “magical touches” to match the film’s pop star aesthetic.

Apart from combining traditional elements, each weapon provided is also tailored to the personality and background of each HUNTR/X member.
Rumi uses
Science-geom
or the Four Tiger Sword, a ceremonial sword only made during the year, month, day and time of the tiger, according to art director Celine DaHyeu Kim.
Meanwhile Mira fights with
Gok-do
, the Curved Moon Sword which has its roots in the Confederacy Style.
The Gaya Confederation was an ancient Korean confederation consisting of several small kingdoms in the Nakdong River valley, South Korea, which grew out of the Byeonhan Confederation and played an important role in Korean history before being conquered by Silla in the 6th century.
“Her tall, curvy form reflects her figure and towering presence on the battlefield, giving her a commanding and heroic silhouette,” notes character designer Euni Cho.
Zoey rounds out the team with
Shin-kal
, or Spirit Sword, which is designed with a rounder shape to feel uniquely Korean while reflecting its more cheerful character.
In addition to swords and spears, the creative team invested significant time in developing the norigae worn by hunters.Norigae is a meaningful accessory usually displayed on the belt of hanbok, traditional Korean clothing.
Norigae Mira is made to contrast with her cold demeanor on the outside. As Cho explains, the norigae “reflects her big, bold personality, with ribbons that resemble her signature hairstyle.”
“A large heart pendant that symbolizes the warmth hidden behind his cold expression.”
As for Zoey’s pendant, the design is inspired by children’s norigae from the Joseon period. Her pendant includes a bell, a turtle, a bunny, and a toy bead block that spells out her name.
“The fun details reflect his childlike side and his creative side as a hunter and musician,” Cho added.
KPop Demon Hunters can be watched on Netflix.
