Eko explained that from the results of the examination it was discovered that the perpetrator was a recidivist in a similar case.He was sentenced by the Panel of Judges at the Tangerang Court to prison for four years and six months in April 2013.
“The person concerned is a recidivist of 0.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine,” he said.
Apart from the suspect Rafi, he said investigators had also named another suspect on the wanted list (DPO).
“As a courier controller, he is the person who controls the movement of suspect Muhammad Raffi,” he said.
Previously, Bareskrim Polri admitted that they had taken over the discovery of 34 packs of ecstasy worth IDR 207 billion which were recovered from an accident on the Lampung Toll Road, on Thursday (20/11).
The Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said that the takeover of the case had been carried out since Friday (21/11).
He explained that this was done because the ecstasy distribution case allegedly involved a cross-provincial network with a large circulation of 207 thousand ecstasy.
“Because this case needs to be accelerated in handling the case so it is taken over by a higher unit to speed up the disclosure of the case because it is suspected to involve a cross-provincial network,” he said.
Furthermore, Eko said that the total estimated ecstasy evidence was worth approximately IDR 207.5 billion.
“The potential number of victims saved is 207,529 people,” he said.
On the other hand, he also mentioned the National Police logo badge that investigators found from the car carrying hundreds of thousands of ecstasy. He said that from the perpetrator’s statement, he found that the badge was already in the car when it was purchased.
“The badge is a souvenir that can be bought anywhere, especially TNI/Polri equipment shops, so it does not indicate the involvement of any agency,” he explained.
