No further details were provided regarding the cancellation.Hamasaki via an upload on Instagram Story on November 28 confirmed this and said his team received a request to cancel the concert.
“Like the previous performance, I and a crew of 200 people worked together day and night, taking five days to complete the preparations for today’s Shanghai stage,” he wrote in English and Japanese.
“However, key staff were hastily assembled in the morning and we received a request to cancel the show.”
Hamasaki later stated he had no intention of commenting on things he did not know about.

“I feel very sorry that we cannot allow the approximately 100 hardworking Chinese staff, as well as the 100 other staff, dancers and band members who crossed the ocean from Japan to make this show happen,” he wrote.
“More than anything, I still cannot believe… that this stage must now be dismantled without having had the chance to meet and apologize in person to the 14,000 Assistant Technicians (TA) who have gathered from all over China, Japan and various other countries. I am very sorry.”
Until last weekend, netizens started uploading photos showing Ayumi Hamasaki still appearing at the event location even though there were no spectators present.
After going viral, the 40 year old singer confirmed this.
“After receiving a request to cancel yesterday’s performance, we performed from the first song to the encore without an audience before leaving the concert venue.”
The solo performance has reportedly been recorded, and the footage will likely be shared with fans at a later date.
On November 30, Hamasaki also posted nine photos of herself performing with dancers in an empty concert venue, including them bowing and with confetti flying at the end of the performance.
“With 14,000 empty seats, but feeling so much love from personal assistants from all over the world, this was one of the most unforgettable shows for me,” he wrote in English.

He is scheduled to perform in Macau on January 10, and fans who have purchased tickets have shared their concerns online about whether the concert will go ahead or not.
The concert was one of several performances by Japanese artists in China to be canceled recently.
The decision was taken following comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on November 7, who stated that a military invasion of Taiwan could pose an existential crisis for Japan.
China views Taiwan as part of its territory that must be united with the mainland, even by force if necessary.
