Both of them immediately welcomed the idea of collaboration. As individuals who respect each other, the song was definitely made so that they could work together, not for competition.
“I try for the two of us not to compete, there is no competition, instead we work together to introduce our work to the public,” said Ebiet G. Ade in a press conference, Friday (7/11).
“The character of our voices is different. But, God willing, this will be an interesting presentation for the Indonesian music community without having to create a competition,” he said.

The song Ibu was first composed by Iwan Fals in 1977, when he was still a teenager and living far from home.Meanwhile, the song Titip Rindu Buat Ayah was first released in 1996.
The release, which was a meeting moment for two legendary Indonesian singers, was based on the hope that the latest composition of the singer’s hit song would be able to touch the feelings of listeners across generations.
“So choosing Titip Rindu Ayah and Ibu from the previous legendary songs, how can this already legendary song still be enjoyed nostalgically, especially for Gen Z,” said Arlan Djoewarsa as A&R Manager of Musica Studios.
Musica Studios Executive Producer Indrawati Widjaja explained that the idea for the collaboration was driven by the desire to unite two big names who have had a deep influence on Indonesian music.
“We want to bring together and unite two big names who are truly equally big in the Indonesian music industry, each of whom has a different vocal character,” said Indrawati.
“So it’s better now, otherwise when?”said Indrawati.”This is a celebration of the journey of two extraordinary legends whose work remains relevant today.”
