At that time, he said an armed attack on Taiwan could be the basis for Japan to deploy troops as part of the concept of collective defense.
“If the emergency in Taiwan involves warships and the use of military force, then it could be considered a situation that threatens (Japan’s) survival,” said Takaichi, quoted

.
China’s Foreign Ministry then responded by saying it would not tolerate Takaichi’s comments.
“The Japanese side should immediately correct its erroneous actions and retract its baseless statements,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference.
However, Takaichi emphasized that he would not take back his words and said his stance was in line with Japanese principles.
Takaichi is known as a figure who is tough on China and an outspoken supporter of Taiwan.
In addition, if a major Chinese attack on Taiwan actually occurred, it could disrupt supply chains and significantly strengthen the Bamboo Curtain country’s military position against Japan.
As much as 99 percent of Japan’s trade depends on maritime routes.
Other Chinese officials also expressed their annoyance at the Japanese PM’s comments.Chinese Consul General in Osaka Xue Jian was furious and posted a threatening statement to Takaichi on social media.
In the upload, Xue did not mention Takaichi’s name but included a news article in his comment,
“That filthy neck that barged in on its own, I had no choice but to decapitate without the slightest hesitation. Are you, ready?”Xue was quoted as saying

.
However, the upload has now been deleted.
After the upload, Japan has now criticized China.Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Xue’s remarks on social media were highly inappropriate.
“We strongly urge the Chinese side to continue to take appropriate steps so that this does not affect the overall direction of Japan-China relations,” said Motegi.
Netizens and the Japanese parliament are also busy demanding that Xue apologize. Some others even called for persona non grata for the Chinese diplomat.
“Declare [Xue] persona non grata and face immediate expulsion,” said Japanese upper house member Hiroshi Yamada.
Later on Sunday, Xue asked the public to stop speculating and distorting his words.
“I would like to reiterate that the root of the problem lies with Japanese politicians who ignored our repeated and firm statements of rejection,” Xue said.
He then said, “They casually stated that the Taiwan contingency was a Japanese contingency.”Such a claim, continued Xue, would certainly be a threat to China.
Recently, China has become increasingly aggressive in intimidating Taiwan, a region it considers wanting to secede.
China has also repeatedly emphasized that it does not rule out the possibility of using force or coercive means to defend Taiwan.
