Head of Public Relations for the Karanganyar Police, Inspector Mulyadi, said that two runners died on Sunday (7/12) morning.He said Pujo and Sigit took part in the 15 kilometer race.The following is the police version of the chronology of runners who died during a trail run on Mount Lawu:
At 10.44 WIB
Inspector Mulyadi said that at 10.44 WIB, his party received a report of a running participant who was unconscious.The participant is Sigit Joko Purnomo.

“The incident was reported this morning at 10.44 WIB and reported at 11.30 WIB, in two different places, one in Bukit Wilis and one in Bukit Cemoro Wayang,” he said quoting

Mulyadi said the victim Sigit was found unconscious on Mitis Hill or at kilometer 12 of the 15 kilometer Siksorogo route.At the time of the incident, it was raining heavily at the location.
“Last Sunday at 10.44 WIB we received information that someone had fainted. One of the witnesses contacted PMI officers and Marsal officers who were closest to the location. PMI and Marsal were able to provide help but could not be helped and died,” he said.
At 10.55 WIB
Not long after, the organizers received information that a runner had fainted at Cemoro Wayang Hill or at kilometer 8 of the 15 kilometer Siksorogo route.The victim’s name was Pujo Buntoro.
“At 10.55 WIB, the witness received information from the participants that someone had fainted at Cemoro Wayang Hill or kilometer 8 of the 15 kilometer Siksorogo route. At that time it was raining quite heavily,” he explained.
The witness immediately contacted PMI officers and Marsal who were not far from the location.While providing aid, the victim was declared dead.
“PMI and Marsal came to provide assistance but the victim could no longer be helped and died, then the witness contacted volunteer officers who were members of the Siksorogo Lawu Untra event to go to the location for evacuation,” he explained.
At 14.30 WIT, suspected heart attack
The evacuation of runner Sigit Joko Purnomo took a long time.The victims could only be evacuated downstairs at 14.30 WIB.Sigit is suspected of having a heart attack during a running race.
“The heart attack victim was evacuated at around 14.30 WIB, the victim could be evacuated and then taken to Karanganyar Regional Hospital,” he explained.
At 15.30 WIT, suspected shortness of breath
In a different location, a victim named Pujo Buntoro was only able to be evacuated at 15.30 WIB.Mulyadi said the evacuation was hampered by heavy rain.
Mulyadi said the victim had a history of shortness of breath.The victim could be dropped off at 15.30 WIB and taken to Karanganyar Regional Hospital.
“The victim had a history of lung disease or shortness of breath. At around 15.30 WIB the victim was evacuated and then taken to Karanganyar Regional Hospital,” he concluded.
