Left behind, UMY responded through counterattacks and an aggressive combination of Muhammadi Iqbal and captain Ilham Amri Saputra. This pressure paid off when M. Arya Pazhduani fired a hard shot in the 16th minute which changed the score to 1-1 at the end of the first half.
Entering the second half, UNY stole the start again.Ibra Azhiim Syahputra took advantage of Zaidan Arrafi Rajadatu’s kick-in scheme to put UNY ahead 2-1.However, this advantage did not last long because UMY equalized 2-2 through Muhammadi Iqbal’s kick resulting from a quick transition.
The match is getting more exciting.UNY regained the lead 3-2 through the same combination: Zaidan’s kick-in to Ibra Azhiim who successfully scored a brace. The goal was the turning point in the match.
Under pressure to catch up, UMY was careless. The mistake in executing the kick-in was quickly exploited by Rizki Febriansyah who calmly beat goalkeeper Razil Akbar, while making the final score 4-2 for UNY.
With this result, UNY topped Group C with 9 points, was no longer overtaken, and officially locked in the first semifinal ticket.
In the women’s category, Malang State University (UM) managed to win the match with a narrow score of 1-0 over Tidar University (Untidar) Magelang.
