Cameroon’s failure to qualify for the final round of the playoffs felt suffocating because the winning goal was scored during injury time in the second half. The goal was scored by Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba.
Apart from that, this defeat was a painful blow because Cameroon actually has capable players. The team coached by Marc Brys is strengthened by a number of players who play in Europe.
In the current squad there is the name Bryan Mbeumo who is shining at Manchester United. The Indomitable Lions are also strengthened by goalkeeper Andre Onana and a young player who was targeted by MU during the last summer transfer market, Carlos Baleba.
Practically, Cameroon only minus Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa who could not join the squad because he suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Napoli.
This list of top players playing in Europe also has to accept the fact that they will not be able to show off their abilities at the 2026 World Cup. This is clearly a setback for Cameroon.
