Thailand
and
Cambodia
which became tense again after exchanging fire on the border of the two Indochinese countries.
Trump called Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Friday (14/11) to discuss tensions between the two neighboring countries in mainland Southeast Asia.Quoting from

Hun Manet and Anutin Chanvirakul also confirmed calls from Trump to each of them on Saturday (15/11).
Hun Manet in a Facebook social media post said the call from Trump was, “To discuss developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border, with the aim of continuing the implementation of the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.”

In the conversation with Trump, he also touched on the initiative of the president of Uncle Sam’s country regarding the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration and ceasefire.
Hun Manet said Phnom Penh–the seat of Cambodia’s government–pledges a strong commitment to upholding the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
Hun Manet also said he hoped that Cambodia and Thailand would agree on an agreed bilateral mechanism, and encourage peace between the two countries.He said Trump would continue to monitor issues between Cambodia and Thailand.
“To ensure there are no repeat armed clashes along the Cambodia-Thailand border,” Hun Manet said, imitating Trump’s statement via telephone.
Separately, via his social media account, Anutin admitted that apart from speaking with Trump, he also communicated with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
To Trump, the Thai PM said both Bangkok and Phnom Penh must adhere to mutually agreed commitments to enable peace to be achieved.
He also encouraged Cambodia to admit the facts and take responsibility for the mine explosion.Previously, Thailand accused Cambodia of planting new mines.A Thai soldier was injured in a mine explosion in the border area with Cambodia on Monday (10/11).
Thailand temporarily suspended the peace agreement between the two countries a day after the mine incident.They feel Cambodia has violated the agreement by placing new mines on the border.
“In a situation like this, Thailand must have the right to take necessary actions to protect Thailand’s sovereignty,” stressed Anutin.

Meanwhile, Cambodia has denied spreading mines and provocations, and has urged Thailand to re-comply with the peace agreement.

, The White House stated that apart from the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia, Trump was also communicating with Malaysia regarding the latest tensions on the border of the two Indochinese countries.
Previously, in cross-border shooting between Thailand and Cambodia on Wednesday (12/11), there were civilian casualties.At least one civilian was killed, and three others were injured.
“President Trump called Thailand and Cambodia in an effort to mediate the latest conflict. He also contacted Malaysia to end the violence,” said the White House in an official statement reported by AFP, Saturday (15/11).
Then to journalists on the Air Force One flight to Florida, USA, Trump revealed his discussions with the country’s leaders.
“I just stopped a war today using tariffs [on imports to the US], threats of tariffs [on imports to the US],” he said.
“I talked to the prime ministers of both countries, and they’re doing well. I think they’re going to be fine,” Trump continued Friday evening.
Thailand and Cambodia have been at war since July 2025. It was recorded that 48 people were killed and 300 thousand people were forced to flee because of the war.
Then in the middle of this year, the Southeast Asian countries signed the pact last month in Kuala Lumpur in the presence of US President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Then on July 28, Cambodia and Thailand agreed to an unconditional ceasefire in a trilateral meeting hosted by Anwar after weeks of hostility.
