The Indonesian Building Material Supplier Organization Forum (FOSBBI) responded to the Decree of the Minister of Industry regarding product certification.
Triyogo Priyohadi, member of the FOSBBI technical team, said the problem occurred after the issuance of Minister of Industry Regulation (Permenperin) Number 36 of 2024 concerning Mandatory Implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and Technical Specifications for Ceramic Tiles.
The contents include, among other things, first, freezing the old SNI and requiring companies to take care of the new SNI through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas) program.

Second
, delivery of goods only from Jakarta where the head office of overseas factory representatives is located, and must have a storage warehouse.
Third
, certification process barcodes are only issued by the Ministry of Industry (Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency/BSKJI), no longer by private certification institutions/companies.
Triyogo said this resulted in ceramic importing companies applying for a process to obtain a new SNI that was not yet clear. As a result, during this year they have not been able to import ceramic or granite products from India.
“Try to calculate how much business actors lose and the foreign exchange they don’t receive because we can’t import goods?”said Triyogo in his release.
Importing companies that have experienced losses have submitted a protest to the Industrial Standardization and Services Center (BSPJI), Ministry of Industry.
Triyogo Priyohadi highlighted SIINAs which were claimed to have been integrated and cut the bureaucratic chain, but they were experiencing queues.
FOSBBI has sent a letter of complaint about the halt in the SNI process to the Minister of Industry with copies to the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Trade. They have coordinated with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) to jointly send a letter to President Prabowo Subianto.
Increasing the quality of competitiveness
Previously, the Head of the Industrial Services Policy and Standardization Agency (BSKJI) Andi Rizaldi said that there were 16 new Minister of Industry Regulations to regulate various industrial products. These include products such as prestressed steel wire, calcium carbide, valves, stoves, LPG gas stove hoses, ceramic tiles, carry sprayers, safety shoes, sodium tripolyphosphate, aluminum sulfate, zinc oxide and cement.
Andi added that as part of efforts to improve the quality and competitiveness of industrial products in national and global markets, several new regulations have been stipulated in the Minister of Industry Regulation concerning the Mandatory Implementation of Industrial Standardization, in accordance with Minister of Industry Regulation No.45 in 2022.
“This is in order to increase compliance with industrial standardization by all
stakeholders
,” he said in his official statement in October last year.
One of these new arrangements is the obligation for overseas producers to have an Official Representative in Indonesia, who will be fully responsible for the products produced by overseas producers.
Apart from that, imported products must also go first to the official representative’s warehouse which is located at the same location as the official representative’s location. This arrangement aims to facilitate the monitoring process before the product circulates in Indonesia.
