Losses due to natural disasters that hit a number of areas in

estimated at more than IDR 17 trillion. These losses include government assets such as bridges and health facilities, to community property in the form of agricultural land and settlements.
“Initially the calculation was around IDR 12 trillion, but after data was collected again, including the affected rice fields, broken bridges and damaged hospitals, the value was more than IDR 17 trillion and is still being calculated,” said North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Monday (15/12).
Bobby emphasized that handling in the field is the main priority. In the early stages of a disaster, almost all affected areas had uniform needs, especially logistics, because distribution access was cut off.

“Yesterday, I said from the start that the needs in the areas affected by the disaster were still all uniforms, accelerating logistics because those affected by yesterday’s disaster couldn’t access the logistics. So almost all uniforms were initially yes,” he said.
However, as time goes by, the needs of each region begin to differ. For example, in Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli, accelerating access opening is the main focus.Meanwhile, in several other areas, the issue of clean water availability has become an urgent need.
“But today, as time goes by, regional needs are different, there are those that need accelerated access, such as in Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli. There are those who need clean water. Because maybe the area is no longer so affected but there is no access to clean water. This needs to be supplied. Quick repairs, such as in the Langkat embankment, if it is not repaired in the near future, the water will continue to flow in,” he explained.
Bobby emphasized that opening access is the main key so that the mobilization of logistics and heavy equipment can run optimally.Currently, personnel can reach almost all affected areas, but a number of villages are still isolated from heavy vehicles.
“What is certain is that the most important thing is to open access to bridge infrastructure so that repairs can be carried out quickly so that access is open. Heavy equipment in isolated villages is isolated for cleaning. But for personnel and logistics, everyone can access it. Only heavy vehicles are isolated,” he said.
