Head of BNPT Eddy Hartono said that his party wants to strengthen religious understanding that is moderate, inclusive and in line with national values in society.

The dialogue was held at the Tahfidzul Qur’an LP3IA Islamic Boarding School, Rembang Regency, Central Java together with the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections and Densus 88 Anti-terror Police.
“As a means of enlightenment within the nation and at the same time supporting deradicalization programs and strengthening religious moderation,” he said in a written statement, Tuesday (23/12).
Eddy also encouraged deradicalization partners to utilize the momentum of dialogue as a space for learning and national reflection.
“So use this time as best as possible and this is enlightenment and provision for our faith to grow and develop further in order for us to implement it as Indonesian citizens,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gus Baha said that through this dialogue it was hoped that it could open the minds of the participants to be able to think more objectively.
“The beginning of Islam brought by the Prophet Muhammad SAW was a religion of dialogue. Dialogue enables people to think objectively,” he explained.
The leader of the LP3IA Al-Qur’an Narukan Islamic Boarding School, Gus Umam, encouraged the implementation of this national dialogue.He emphasized that his party is committed not to producing students who not only understand religious knowledge, but also have national insight.
“The Al-Quran Islamic boarding school is always committed to educating students not only to understand religious knowledge, but also to have a tolerant attitude, respect differences and love for the Republic of Indonesia. This activity is part of a joint effort to maintain national unity and peace,” he said.
On the other hand, one of the Deradicalization Partners, Laswadi, admitted that the national dialogue had a positive impact on the process of changing understanding.
“With this dialogue, it will further increase my belief in changes for the better in terms of state, nation and religion,” he said.
He considers dialogue with ulama to be an effective means of correcting harsh and intolerant religious understandings.
“Those who are intolerant really need to be very effective with dialogue, of course, so that with dialogue they also really understand what friends who have strong understanding feel,” he said.
