“For communication, it is relatively smoother than yesterday afternoon or yesterday. The Ministry of Communications and Technology has collaborated with cellular operators to repair broken communication lines,” said Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. TNI Suharyanto in a press conference, Saturday (29/11).
Suharyanto said communication routes in the Central Tapanuli area to Sibolga, North Sumatra, were also improving, although they were still problematic.

“Central Tapanuli and Sibolga are still problematic, but they are getting better, because more limited communication strategies have been implemented, so Starlink has been more widely distributed to Central Tapanuli and Sibolga,” he said.
However, Suharyanto said that people had started to be able to take turns contacting their families.
He ensured that he would continue to improve communication routes in all areas affected by the disaster.
“Of course it’s not 100 percent smooth, they have to take turns, and Starlink is installed at several points, but this will be improved continuously,” he said.
At the same time, Suharyanto admitted that Sibolga City still cannot be accessed by land.He said that until the third day of treatment on Saturday (29/11), Sibolga could only be accessed by air.
Suharyanto also admitted that logistics needs in Sibolga City were still not sufficient to meet needs.
However, he ensured that the government would not remain silent, and would gradually continue to send aid there by air.
Apart from that, Suharyanto said that starting tomorrow, the government will also start shipping logistics by sea.
“Because the KRI assisted by the Indonesian Navy will arrive in North Sumatra tomorrow,” he said.
