This was revealed by the Main Director of BNI Putrama Wahju Setyawan at the Gala Premiere of the film Timur by Iko Uwais which was fully supported by BNI.The Gala Premiere took place at Epicentrum XXI Jakarta, Thursday (4/12).
Putrama said BNI’s support for Eastern films was in line with BNI’s commitment to encouraging Indonesian talent to continue to advance in class and penetrate the global market.

Through support for this film, BNI wants to strengthen the national creative industry ecosystem while providing more space for young filmmakers to work and develop.
This collaboration is a concrete manifestation of BNI’s role in supporting the development of the Indonesian film industry so that it can continue to develop, innovate and become increasingly well known on the international stage.
“BNI sees film as a strong medium for highlighting Indonesian work and talent. We hope that this support can have a wider positive impact on creative industry players,” said Putrama in an official statement.
The film Timur tells the story of a soldier named Timur and his team who rescue a kidnapped researcher in a dense forest.This film is inspired by the true story of the Mapenduma incident in 1996.
Iko Uwais, who also acts as director and main actor in this film, said he was proud of this collaboration, because it provided space for him to return to work and help revive the national film industry.
This momentum is an important marker for national cinema, especially in efforts to present international class action-emotional works produced by Indonesian talents.
“After working abroad for so long, I am proud to be able to return to Indonesia and finally take a new step as a director,” said Iko Uwais.
