“This financing is a concrete manifestation of BNI’s support for the development of national green energy projects, as well as efforts to accelerate the clean energy transition in Indonesia,” said BNI Corporate Secretary, Okki Rushartomo.
The collaboration between the two was confirmed by the signing of an agreement entitled ‘Commitment on Green Project and Operation Financing for 500MW Geothermal Energy Development PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero)’ between SEVP Wholesale Solutions & Value Chain BNI Pancaran Affendi and President Director of PT Geo Dipa Energi Yudistian Yunis.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Friday (10/10).
Okki explained that this synergy is a strategic step in strengthening national energy security based on environmentally friendly resources. This collaboration also emphasizes BNI’s position as a national banking pioneer that actively encourages the implementation of sustainable finance.
“The synergy with Geo Dipa strengthens BNI’s position as the main actor in green financing and supports the national agenda towards a sustainable energy future,” said Oki.
PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) is one of the state-owned companies operating in the geothermal energy sector. They manage the Dieng PLTP and Patuha PLTP projects, two national strategic projects which are an important part of the development of geothermal energy in Indonesia.
Currently, the installed capacity reaches 120 MW with plans to expand to 500 MW.
Geothermal is known as an environmentally friendly energy source and is free from high carbon emissions.Data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) shows that geothermal plants only produce 45-80 grams of CO2 per kWh, much lower than coal-fired power plants which reach 900-1,000 grams of CO2 per kWh.
In addition, PLTP can operate 24 hours a day throughout the year, making it a reliable and efficient source of baseload energy.
Geothermal energy sources are also spread across various regions in Indonesia, so they have great potential to reduce dependence on energy imports while strengthening national energy sovereignty.
Through collaboration with Geo Dipa Energi, BNI emphasizes its position as a strategic partner for the government in accelerating the development of national green energy, while strengthening the sustainable financial ecosystem in Indonesia towards a low-carbon economy.
“BNI is committed to continuing to support clean energy projects that provide economic benefits while preserving the environment. We hope that this collaboration can be a real example of collaboration between the financial and energy sectors in realizing a sustainable future,” said
Okki
