SEA Games 2025

Malaysia came to the SEA Games with a target of four golds but they could only bring home one gold.This failure made Rexy admit that he was ready to resign if someone asked him to do so.
Regarding this, Tengku Zafrul said that failure at the SEA Games was a collective mistake.So failure to meet the target was not Rexy’s fault.

“What happened was not just one person’s fault. It was a collective responsibility, namely the players, coaching team, management and leadership.”
“We win as a team and when we lose, we also have to accept it together,” said Tengku Zafrul on his Instagram account.
Tengku Zafrul said BAM still needed Rexy.Apart from that, one failure in a tournament is not worthy of making Rexy immediately considered a failure as a whole.
“I appreciate Rexy’s openness and my attitude is still clear, we still need him. Experience and philosophical development cannot be determined from just one tournament. Building a national team squad is a long-term process,” said Tengku Zafrul.
Behind the failure at the SEA Games, Tengku Zafrul reminded that Malaysia had also achieved many successes this year.
“One setback cannot take away from the great achievements we achieved this year.”
“We were able to push the mixed doubles to become world champions and for the first time, our women’s doubles also reached the final of the world championships, an achievement that uplifted our national players.”
