“We can get IDR 500 trillion per year in foreign exchange if we hold on, we don’t import it. It can contribute to our economic growth, at least an increase of 2 to 3 percent,” said Bahlil at the 2025 Bisnis Indonesia Group Conference at the Raffles Hotel, South Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
In his presentation, he said that Indonesia’s oil production would reach 221 thousand barrels per day (bpd) in 2024.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s oil imports reached 313 thousand bpd. This figure includes 112 thousand bpd for crude oil and 201 thousand bpd for fuel.
Furthermore, Bahlil also said that fuel consumption in Indonesia reached 532 thousand barrels. This figure includes transportation sector consumption of 52 percent or 276.64 thousand bpd, and industrial sector consumption of 34 percent or 180.88 thousand bpd.
Then, the electricity sector was 8 percent or 42.56 thousand barrels, and the aviation sector was 6 percent or 31.92 thousand barrels.
“What will our economic growth look like in the future, will it increase or not? If we are able to not import our fuel, then I guarantee that our foreign exchange will stay within the country and that will be leverage for us to be able to rotate domestically to increase our national economic growth,” explained Bahlil.
