Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the government will take firm action against illegal mining that does not have a Forest Area Borrow-Use Permit (IPPKH).
Bahlil discussed this matter with President Prabowo Subianto and a number of related officials in a limited meeting held last Sunday (23/11).
“There are (miners) who have an IUP (Mining Business License), but don’t have an IPPKH. They carry out illegal mining. And all of them will be given sanctions in accordance with existing regulations,” said Bahlil after the Inauguration of Primary High Officials at the Chairul Saleh Building, Office of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Monday (24/11).

Bahlil said that controlling mining areas is one of the agendas that the government continues to carry out.The reason is, the government wants economic activities to be carried out with sustainability in mind.
“There are also many miners, their relatives, our friends, who carry out mining without permits. There are no IPPKHs. That’s why there are all holes. We don’t want that. So we’re putting everything in order,” he said.
President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with a number of Red and White Cabinet ministers and the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in Hambalang, Bogor, Sunday (23/11).
There were four things discussed, first, the results of the work and follow-up plans for the Forest Area Control Task Force.Second, controlling mining areas.
Third, the legal consequences of violations and illegal activities in the forestry and mining sectors.Fourth, handling a number of illegal areas that were previously difficult for the authorities to reach.
Last week, the Forest Area Control Task Force controlled a number of illegal mines in forest areas which were estimated to cause losses to the state of up to IDR 12.9 trillion.The illegal mine covers an area of 315.48 hectares.
Head of the Task Force Team (Kasatgas) for Controlling Forest and Mining Areas (PKH) Major General (Mayjen) TNI Febriel Buyung Sikumbang said that the illegal mine was in the Central Bangka Regency area, to be precise;in Lubuk Simpang Village and Lubuk Singkuk Village, Lubuk Besar District.
