after the latest attack incident, prompting questions about how powerful Cambodia’s rocket capabilities are.
According to a source within the Cambodian Security Agency, the President of the Cambodian Senate, Hun Sen, commented that Cambodia has weapons that can reach Bangkok and that the weapons need a range of around 200 to 300 km.

The source said the known land-based missile systems disclosed in Cambodia, such as the Chinese-made PHL-03 multiple rocket launcher, have a standard range of 70-130 km, while the AR-2 model reaches about 150 km.
Other small to medium caliber rockets such as the Type-81, AS-1, and WS-1B have a range of less than 100 km, quoted from

.
However, the security source pointed out that there is no evidence that Cambodia has long-range missiles over 200 km or short- or medium-range ballistic missiles.
“Hun Sen claims that Cambodia has weapons capable of attacking Bangkok, but has no intention of using them, because there is no evidence of that capability, nor the budget or infrastructure that needs to be developed,” said a security source, as quoted by Nation Thailand.
“Therefore, it is reasonable to assume the statement was to exert internal political pressure and enhance his image as a leader, rather than representing a factual strategic reality,” the source continued.
Cambodia also does not have fighter aircraft capable of carrying long-range missiles because it does not have a fleet of fighter jets.
“Even a small country like Laos has Yak-130s, but Cambodia does not have armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs),” the source said.
The source also noted that Cambodia’s defense budget in 2024 will be around 20 billion baht (around Rp. 10 trillion).
Previously, Thailand’s spending on four Gripren E/F fighter jets reached around 19 billion baht (around Rp. 9 trillion), equivalent to Cambodia’s entire military budget that year.
In comparison, the Thai Military operates a variety of advanced aircraft including the Gripen C/D, F-16 A/B eMLU, F-5TH, and T-50TH, with a combat range as far away as Phnom Penh.
They are also equipped with precision-guided munitions such as the GBU-49, AIM-120 AMRAAM, and AGM-65 Maverick.
