Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development,
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono

), was awarded the 2025 Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award on Friday (21/11).
This is the highest award for alumni of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.
This award is given to alumni who are considered successful in making extraordinary contributions to society, the nation and the global community.

The Nanyang Alumni Awards, which have been held since 2005, are NTU’s form of appreciation for alumni who have made the university proud through achievements at national, regional and international levels.The program consists of four award categories, with the Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award being the highest level.
Coordinating Minister AHY received this award for his significant contributions in the fields of defense, public service and national development.In his role as Coordinating Minister, he leads various strategic programs to strengthen infrastructure and accelerate regional development in Indonesia.
His dedication to expanding access to development and improving the quality of public services has made him an important figure in accelerating the transformation of national infrastructure.
Apart from his work in government, Coordinating Minister AHY is also active in encouraging the development of young generation leadership and community participation through The Yudhoyono Institute and various social initiatives he founded.
This effort is part of an ongoing commitment to strengthen social development and community empowerment throughout Indonesia.
In his statement, Coordinating Minister AHY expressed his gratitude and respect for this appreciation.
“Being awarded the Nanyang Distinguished Alumni Award is a very meaningful honor for me. NTU taught me to think critically and strategically, and view leadership from a broader perspective,” said Coordinating Minister AHY.
He emphasized that his academic experience at NTU was one of the intellectual foundations that continues to influence his leadership journey.
“About ten years after studying in Singapore, I left the military after sixteen years of service and entered the world of politics. The form of service was different, but the mission remained the same: to serve Indonesia,” he said.
Coordinating Minister AHY added that the leadership approach he learned at NTU continues to be a guide in carrying out public responsibilities.
“The analytical, cross-disciplinary and future-oriented way of thinking that I learned at NTU has always accompanied me in every step of my service. I believe that good policies require values and ideas that are tested by data, guided by empathy and perfected by science,” he concluded.
He closed his statement by emphasizing the importance of strategic insight in viewing national and global dynamics.
“Strength must always be guided by insight and wisdom. That perspective continues to guide me in looking at national interests, regional stability and global cooperation.”
With this award, Coordinating Minister AHY became one of the NTU alumni who not only succeeded in making achievements on the national stage, but also had a real impact on Indonesia’s progress.This award confirms international recognition for his contribution and dedication in developing the country.
NTU President, Professor Ho Teck Hua, said that this year’s award recipients reflect the quality of NTU graduates who are able to utilize knowledge, creativity and empathy to have a positive impact on society.
“This year’s award recipients show that NTU graduates are able to combine knowledge, creativity and compassion to have a real impact on Singapore and the world. Their work in achieving excellence, leading change and contributing to society is an inspiration for the entire NTU academic community,” he said.
