The government officially allows the State Civil Apparatus (
ASN
), including the TNI and Polri, to work from outside the office (
working from anywhere/
WFA
) on 29-31 December 2025. A similar appeal was also made to private workers.
This was done to reduce traffic jams during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
So are there any requirements for civil servants and private sector workers to be able to apply WFA?

Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (MenpanRB) Rini Widyantini emphasized the implementation of WFA or flexible work patterns (
flexible working arrangement
/ FWA) in government agencies must continue to pay attention to the continuity of essential public services.
He said public services must continue to run optimally, especially those that have a direct impact on society.
“We have issued a letter to all heads of government agencies to implement flexible work arrangements while still paying attention to the continuity of public services,” emphasized Rini during a press conference at the Jakarta Creative Hub, Central Jakarta, Thursday (18/12).
In line with Rini, Minister of Manpower Yassierli also emphasized that the WFA policy can still be excluded in important sectors, including public services which include health, manufacturing, hospitality, shopping centers, the food and beverage industry, and other essential sectors.
“Implementation

or

“Of course certain sectors can be excluded, which are related to public services,” explained Yassierli on the same occasion.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) estimates that the movement of people during the Christmas holiday period this year will reach 119.5 million people.
Several areas of concern are points of population density, including Central Java and Eastern regions such as North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and East Nusa Tenggara, as well as North Sumatra.
