Arab media highlighted the attitude of the government of the Republic of Indonesia which rejected plans for humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (

UAE Ambassador Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri also said his country was ready to send aid teams and supplies.

, Indonesian Foreign Minister, Sugiono, said international assistance was still not needed.Indonesia responded carefully to the aid on December 5.
Indonesian State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi also said the government had its own considerations regarding this matter.
Previously, on December 1, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made personal communications to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
He expressed “deep sadness”, followed by a similar message from Saudi Arabia’s King, Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.
Apart from that, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also expressed his condolences.
Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also expressed sympathy with Tehran offering to send an emergency team.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which represents 57 Muslim-majority countries, also urged immediate support.
The Middle East and Indonesia have close ties with millions of Indonesian workers living in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Oman.
Additionally, Gulf sovereign wealth funds invest heavily in Indonesia’s infrastructure and agriculture.This encourages help that arises spontaneously and sincerely.
Flood events in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra have killed as many as 1000 people with hundreds of people still missing, and more than 770,000 people displaced.
The losses reached more than US$3.1 billion (around Rp. 51.6 trillion) which destroyed public facilities such as roads, bridges, plantations, schools and entire settlements.
Electricity and communications networks collapsed and left parts of Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra isolated for several days.
