warns business actors not to play with stocks and
food prices
ahead of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru).
He emphasized that the government will not hesitate to take firm steps against parties who try to gain unfair profits.
“Don’t try to play with prices to take unreasonable profits. We will not hesitate. If we are not firm, the government will be blasphemed by the people,” said Amran in an official statement at the HBKN Nataru Food Supply and Price Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Thursday (18/12).

In the forum, Amran, who is also minister of agriculture, mentioned the annual pressure to control food prices ahead of religious holidays which he said could cause ‘vertigo’.He warned that this experience should not be repeated.
“I don’t want a repeat of what raised prices, I’m vertigo,” he stressed.
Amran explained this term as a reminder that the government, business actors and traders should work together to maintain price stability.He emphasized that Nataru’s conditions must run smoothly without price spikes that burden the public.
“We look after each other, we don’t have vertigo. Head of the Food Task Force, I don’t want any traders to have vertigo but there are ministers who have vertigo. Ministers don’t have vertigo, traders don’t have vertigo, and associations don’t have vertigo. And our brothers have a good Christmas and New Year. The key word is vertigo if someone is offside,” he continued.
The National Police’s Food Task Force stated that it was ready to monitor market activities, including potential hoarding and speculation ahead of Christmas.
“We, together with the Regional Food Task Force, will focus on monitoring hoarding practices and speculators who take advantage of the momentum of national religious holidays,” said Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak on the same occasion.
During the meeting, the food business association also expressed its commitment to maintaining supply and following price regulations.The poultry and egg association said it would not raise prices unreasonably.
Cattle and meat importers stated that they were ready to ensure smooth supply and prices according to regulations.The rice association expressed support for the government’s intervention program and adherence to the highest retail price (HET) policy.
The government also explains the HET provisions and reference prices.Based on the Decree of the Head of Bapanas Number 299 of 2025, the HET for medium rice is divided into three zones, namely IDR 13,500 per kg in zone 1;IDR 14 thousand per kg in zone 2;and IDR 15,500 per kg in zone 3. For premium rice, the HET for zone 1 is IDR 14,900 per kg, zone 2 IDR 15,400 per kg, and zone 3 IDR 15,800 per kg.
The sales reference price (HAP) for purebred chicken eggs and purebred chicken meat is determined through Bapanas Regulation Number 6 of 2024, respectively IDR 30 thousand per kg and IDR 40 thousand per kg.
Meanwhile, HAP for beef, chilies and shallots is regulated through Bapanas Regulation Number 12 of 2024.
The prices include fresh beef front thighs IDR 130 thousand per kg, hamstrings IDR 140 thousand per kg, frozen front thighs IDR 105 thousand per kg, frozen buffalo meat IDR 80 thousand per kg, red bird’s eye chilies IDR 40 thousand-IDR 57 thousand per kg, curly red chilies IDR 37 thousand-IDR 55 thousand per kg, and shallots IDR 36,500-IDR 41,500 per kg.
