“On behalf of the central government, we have approved Governor Mualem’s request for 10 thousand tons of rice for Aceh,” said Amran in an official statement, Tuesday (9/12).

“This is a special allocation to support post-disaster recovery, where our national rice stock is currently very sufficient, we have even prepared it three times higher than Mualem’s demand,” he continued.
He said that the national rice stock controlled by Perum Bulog as of Monday (8/12) reached 3.68 million tonnes, the highest figure in a decade and far above the average year-end stock which is usually in the range of 1.2-1.5 million tonnes.
“With a stock of 3.68 million tonnes, we have reserves three times the national monthly requirement. So the request for 10 thousand tonnes is very small compared to our stock. We will ensure that Aceh is sufficient, and all of Indonesia remains safe until the harvest season in March-April 2026,” he said.
This request for rice assistance emerged in the midst of dealing with floods and landslides which caused casualties and damaged agricultural infrastructure in Aceh.
In a Limited Meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Sultan Iskandar Muda TNI AU Post on Sunday (7/12), Governor Mualem explained the urgent need regarding stabilizing the prices of rice, clean water and LPG.
Prabowo’s visit to Aceh for two consecutive days provided momentum to accelerate coordination between the central and regional governments.Mualem expressed his appreciation for the quick response.
“We would like to express our gratitude for the attention given by the President. His presence has encouraged the community and local government to speed up handling in the field,” he said when seeing Prabowo off at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport.
He hopes that the assistance provided can ease the burden on the community and speed up post-disaster recovery.
On the other hand, Amran said that Indonesia was in a stronger position in terms of rice supply.
Based on BPS projections, the total national rice stock is estimated to reach 34.79 million tons by the end of 2025. The government targets the government’s rice reserve stock to remain above 3.5 million tons until the 2026 harvest season.
“Previously we had to import millions of tonnes, now we can actually help our brothers and sisters in Aceh who are affected by the disaster without worrying about shortages. This is a great blessing for the nation, thank you to Mr President Prabowo Subianto for his support for Indonesian farmers,” he said.
The distribution of 10 thousand tons of rice to Aceh will be carried out this week through Perum Bulog Divre Aceh with a food aid and price supply stabilization (SPHP) mechanism.
This assistance complements the initial allocation of 10,614 tons of rice for Aceh, part of the national emergency assistance program for three provinces in Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, with a total of 34 thousand tons of rice.
