is still within reasonable limits and there is no need to worry too much, especially in the midst of extreme weather conditions that affect production.
According to him, what should not increase towards the end of the year is the price of rice and cooking oil.
“Chili peppers, what I monitored yesterday, were quite good. They even went down (in price), because I followed the media. But what we didn’t… because there was a disaster, right? It rained, the chili went up a little (in price), that’s still normal. But what is not allowed is rice and cooking oil,” said Amran in a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, South Jakarta, Monday (22/12).

Amran added that the government continues to monitor prices of basic necessities that have a greater impact on society, such as rice, eggs, chicken and cooking oil.
According to him, some of these commodities are still at normal levels at the farmer level, so there should not be a spike in prices on the market.
“Eggs and chickens, because we have a surplus there is a HET. We checked with farmers, the price of chicken eggs is normal. There is no increase,” he said.
He also highlighted indications of practices that have the potential to manipulate food prices at the end of the year. The government, he said, would take action against those who took advantage of the situation.
“So someone is deliberately playing around. This is what we are pursuing,” he stressed.
On that occasion, Amran again reminded business actors not to take advantage of the moments leading up to Christmas, New Year and Ramadan for speculative purposes.
“No, please, don’t let any businessman play with the situation, take advantage of the situation. Don’t. I ask you once again, don’t,” said Amran.
Meanwhile, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) regarding the development of the Price Change Index (IPH) for cayenne peppers until the third week of December 2025, national chili prices are still recorded as high.
