This unfortunate incident occurred at around 00.30 WIB at the interchange section of the Krapyak toll road exit, Semarang City.
Head of the Semarang SAR Office Budiono said bus number B. 7201 IV carrying 34 passengers departed from Jatiasih Jakarta for Yogyakarta.It is suspected that the bus was speeding and lost control at the scene of the incident, causing it to hit a road divider and eventually overturned.

“The cause of the accident itself is not yet known for certain, but it is suspected that the bus lost control while speeding from Jakarta to Yogyakarta early this morning,” said Budiono at the scene.
Basarnas, Semarang Search and Rescue Office, which is carrying out the Special Nataru (Christmas and New Year) SAR Alert at the Kalikangkung Joint Command Post, Semarang City immediately went to the location to carry out SAR handling.
“We and the joint SAR team from the National Police, Jasa Marga, PMI and others succeeded in evacuating all the victims from the bus that had an accident. There were 15 passengers who died and 19 others were injured,” said Budiono.
“The evacuation process was completed at 4 in the morning,” he added.
The evacuation process was quite difficult because some of the victims were in a pinned position, then access to the victims was filled with broken glass.
The team had to get into the overturned bus, reach and open access to the victim and evacuate him out of the bus with extra caution.
The evacuation was completed at around 04.00 WIB.All victims were immediately taken to the nearest hospital including RSP.Kariyadi, RS.Columbia Asia and RSUD dr.Adhyatma, MPH or RS.Semarang Monument.
