Due to the increase in demand for electric cars, the price of petrol cars has also dropped. At an exhibition he visited in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area, petrol cars were sold for IDR 175 million – IDR 190 million per unit.
“This means that with the presence of electric vehicles, car prices will be pushed down. And this has never happened before,” said Airlangga.
On the other hand, Airlangga said that investment in electric vehicles had started to appear in the country by a number of global companies. For example, BYD invested IDR 11.2 trillion with production of 150 million. Then Chery Automobile committed to providing additional investment of IDR 5.2 trillion.
Then, Wuling invested IDR 9.3 trillion for automotive and IDR 7.5 trillion for the battery factory.
“Vinfast from Vietnam has invested IDR 3.7 trillion, with a capacity of 50 units per year. Hyundai is investing an additional IDR 20 trillion,” said Airlangga.
