determined to make history at the SEA Games when facing
U-23 Indonesian National Team
in the Group C match at the 700th Anniversary Stadium, Monday (8/12).
This match was the first match for the Indonesian national team, but for the Philippines it was the second match after winning 2-0 over Myanmar.
For Indonesia, this match is important because it can increase Garuda Muda’s confidence if they win.

But for the Philippines it is no less important.Winning means securing a ticket to the 2025 SEA Games semifinals as well as making history.
The Philippines has never entered the SEA Games semifinals since 1993.The last time the Philippines played in the semifinals of the SEA Games was in the 1991 edition when they were hosts.
Facing Indonesia, which is actually the defending champion, is a tough challenge for The Azkals.Even so, coach Garrath McPherson said his team would not be intimidated by Indonesia.
“We have very strong players. The team that won the match had a better attitude and mentality, so we are very enthusiastic about the opportunity to play,” said McPherson as quoted by the Tribune.
The victory over Myanmar in the first match increased the Philippines’ confidence when facing the Indonesian U-23 National Team.
