On Wednesday (26/11) the group again distributed aid to Lhoksukon, North Aceh, and to Julok, East Aceh.
However, on their way home to Banda Aceh, they could no longer pass after the Banda Aceh-Medan national road in the Alue Ie Puteh area, Baktiya District, was submerged in up to 2.1 meters of water.
“We were forced to stay overnight at the gas station because it was a higher and safer location. There was no longer any road access that could be passed,” said Marlina, Friday (28/11) evening.
During the two days they were detained, the condition of the group became increasingly worrying.Logistical supplies are running low and no external assistance has been able to reach the location.
“The situation is very urgent. Food stocks are getting low. Many residents around here are also having difficulties,” he said.
On Friday afternoon, the group finally managed to get out of the trapped location. They boarded a tanker transporting crude palm oil (CPO) which had a taller body so that it could pass through flood waters on that route.
Marlina sat at the front of the vehicle, while the other group members were on top of the tank.
“I am really worried about the conditions on the ground. Many mothers and children need immediate help,” he said.
“Please deal with it immediately because flooding in this area is still very high,” he said.
The group has now arrived in the Geudong area and continues their journey to Lhokseumawe to coordinate with the disaster management team.
