The 21st edition of the 2026 U-17 Asian Cup will be an important tournament for youth football in the Asian region.The AFC has named Saudi Arabia as host, continuing the country’s long-term commitment to host four consecutive editions of the U-17 category tournament in 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028.
This tournament is planned to be held on 7-24 May 2026 and will be a stage for Asia’s best young players to show their quality and compete for tickets to the 2026 U-17 World Cup.

This match will bring together the 16 best U-17 national teams from the Asian continent.The countries that have been confirmed to appear are Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, Qatar, South Korea, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, China, Yemen, Vietnam, India, Australia, Thailand and Myanmar.
The presence of strong Asian teams such as Japan, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Australia is predicted to make the competition even more competitive, while Indonesia is also in the spotlight after confirming itself as one of the final round participants.
Not only is it fighting for the title of Asian champion, this tournament has much greater weight because it functions as an official qualifying event for the 2026 U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
The top eight teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar as AFC representatives.The eight teams are Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, Qatar, South Korea, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
Teams that qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2026 U-17 Asian Cup will automatically also advance to the 2026 U-17 World Cup. This means that the 2026 U-17 Asian Cup will not only be an event to compete for the Asian title, but will also be an official qualifier for the 2026 U-17 World Cup.
