express condolences for the victims of the major natural disaster in Sumatra.These remarks were conveyed by Putin through the Russian Federation Embassy in Indonesia to President Prabowo Subianto.
“Dear Mr. President, please accept our deepest condolences regarding the loss of life and large-scale damage due to flooding in the northern part of the island of Sumatra,” wrote Putin as uploaded to the embassy’s account on social media, Sunday (30/11).

Floods and landslides are hitting a number of areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.Dozens of districts and cities in the three provinces have been submerged over the past few days.
As of Saturday (29/11) afternoon, the number of victims who died had reached 303 people.The highest number of victims were in North Sumatra, namely 166 killed, while in West Sumatra 90 people and Aceh 47 people.
“Russia condoles with those who lost family and friends in this natural disaster, and hopes that the affected areas can quickly return to normal, safe and prosperous life,” said Putin.

Prabowo has expressed his deep condolences for this disaster and stated that the government has moved quickly to send aid to the affected locations since the first day.
This aid was sent by land and air even though it was said there were difficulties due to weather and cut off access.
The government, he continued, has sent aid via three C-130 Hercules aircraft and one A-400 aircraft, and deliveries will continue to be made as needed.
