) recorded that the total number of victims who died as a result of flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra reached 303 people as of Saturday (29/11) afternoon.
Head of BNPB Suharyanto said that most of the fatalities came from North Sumatra (North Sumatra) with 166 fatalities.
“I will describe from North Sumatra, yesterday’s death toll was 116, now there are 166 people who have died. Then 143 people are still missing,” said Suharyanto.

Suharyanto then revealed the number of victims who died from the disaster in the Aceh region, which reached 47 victims.
“Aceh’s current condition is that there are additional victims. For the first time there were 47 fatalities, 51 were still missing, and eight were injured. This data will continue to develop, because there have been several searches for help from this joint task force to find victims,” said Suharyanto.
West Sumatra’s death toll increased after additional victims from Agam Regency reached 74 people who died.
“As for the number of victims, for Padang [West Sumatra] it has increased. So now it is second only to North Sumatra, with 90 fatalities, 85 missing, 10 injured,” said Suharyanto in a press conference.
Thus, the total number of fatalities from the Sumatra disaster as of Saturday afternoon was 303, with details: 166 in North Sumatra, 90 in West Sumatra and 47 in Aceh.
Flash floods submerged dozens of districts and cities in three provinces on Sumatra Island, namely North Sumatra, Aceh and West Sumatra in the last few days.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed concern about the natural disaster.He prayed that their grief and suffering would be eased for the victims affected by the flood.
“At the moment we feel that there are our brothers and sisters who are experiencing grief, disaster, as a result of natural disasters that have occurred in several places in our archipelago, most recently in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. Of course we pray that they will always be protected by the Almighty, and their sorrow and suffering will be eased,” said Prabowo in his speech on National Teachers’ Day, Jakarta, Friday (28/11).
Prabowo emphasized that the government would not remain silent and had moved quickly from the first day of the incident.He said the government distributed aid via land and air.He said this was to ensure that aid immediately reached residents affected by the disaster.
“But the conditions are very difficult. Many are cut off, the weather is still not possible. Sometimes our helicopters and planes have difficulty landing,” he said.
Prabowo said that so far the government had sent aid via three Hercules C-130 aircraft and one A-400 aircraft.He ensured that aid deliveries would be carried out continuously by adjusting to needs in the field.
