Supreme Court Rejects Hendry Lie’s Cassation in the Tin Case

rejected businessman Hendry Lie’s cassation request in the corruption case in the management of tin commodity trade in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk so that his sentence remains 14 years in prison.
“Rejects the defendant’s cassation request,” reads the verdict in case number 11312 K/PID.SUS/2025, as seen on the Indonesian Supreme Court Case Info page from Jakarta, Friday (28/11).

This cassation decision was issued by Supreme Judge Prim Haryadi and two of his members, Arizon Mega Jaya and Yanto, on Tuesday (25/11).Currently, the status of the case is under consideration by the panel of judges.
With the appeal of the cassation appeal rejected, the verdict against Hendry Lie remains the same as the decision of the appellate court.
The DKI Jakarta High Court previously sentenced Hendry Lie to 14 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
The panel of appeals judges also sentenced Hendry Lie to an additional penalty in the form of payment of compensation amounting to Rp. 1,052,577,589,599.19 (Rp. 1.5 trillion) subsidiary to eight years in prison.
In this case, Hendry Lie was charged with receiving IDR 1.06 trillion, through PT Tinindo Internusa, from payment for the purchase of illegal tin ore through wholesale activities for transporting processing waste (SHP), smelter rental and PT Timah’s cost of production (HPP).
For his actions together with the defendants and other convicts, Hendry Lie is suspected of causing state losses of IDR 300 trillion.
Hendry Lie was accused of being the majority shareholder of PT Tinindo Internusa, who initially ordered the General Manager of Operations of PT Tinindo Internusa Rosalina and Marketing of PT Tinindo Internusa in 2008-2018 Fandy Lingga to make and sign an Offer Letter from PT Tinindo Internusa regarding the offer of cooperation in renting tin processing equipment to PT Timah.
The collaboration was carried out with other private smelters, including PT Refined Bangka Tin, CV Venus Inti Perkasa, PT Sariwiguna Binasentosa, and PT Stanindo Inti Perkasa, it was known that these private smelters did not have competent people (CP), with the format of the cooperation offer letter having been prepared by PT Timah.
After that, Hendry Lie together with Fandy and Rosalina through PT Tinindo Internusa and affiliated companies, namely CV Bukit Persada Raya, CV Sekawan Makmur Sejati, and CV Semar Jaya Perkasa were suspected of purchasing and/or collecting tin ore from illegal miners in the PT Timah IUP area.
