Flash flood

on Thursday (27/11) afternoon, the road access from Padang to Bukittinggi was cut off due to being covered by flash flood material.
“It’s true, it happened at around 12 o’clock, (road access) Padang-Bukittinggi (was cut off),” said Traffic Director of West Sumatra Regional Police, Commissioner Reza Chairul Akbar Siddiq when confirmed.

Reza said that currently the relevant officers are at the location to clean up flash flood material at the location.
Reza also appealed to the public to look for alternative routes or postpone their journey until the process of cleaning up flash flood material was complete.
“We urge people to postpone their journey and/or look for alternative, safe routes while the material is being cleaned,” said Reza.
Quoted from Antaranews, BPBD Padang Panjang said that together with the police, TNI, Transportation Service (Dishub), and Basarnas, they were evacuating residents at the landslide location to a safer place.
The local BPBD is also still collecting data on affected residents, especially those who live and carry out activities on the side of the road behind the prayer room in the area.
Regarding the possibility of there being victims of this incident, Acting Head of BPBD Padang Panjang Noviyati said that his party was still collecting data.It is suspected that there were casualties from the flash flood incident.
“We are still handling it,” he said.
