Bakhtiar said Syukri rushed back to Sibolga on Monday (24/11) evening after receiving information about high rainfall in the area.At that time, Syukri was carrying out activities in Medan.
“We informed him of the Mayor’s whereabouts. Monday (24/11) evening he received news that there was high rainfall in Sibolga and he, who was carrying out activities in Medan, immediately returned to Sibolga,” said Bakhtiar, Thursday (27/11).

Syukri’s last message that Bakhtiar received was sent on Tuesday (25/11) at 11.10 WIB.In a screenshot of the message, Syukri explained that the route to Sibolga was blocked by floods and landslides.The opposite direction, towards North Tapanuli, was also impassable due to a similar disaster.
“He sent a message about the condition of being trapped in Sitahuis, and there was no network there,” explained Bakhtiar.
He added that communication conditions in Sibolga and Central Tapanuli were also very limited.Power outages and downed cellular networks made it difficult for residents to communicate news outside the area.
“Why are we currently able to contact, because we are outside Central Tapanuli and Sibolga. We are sure that in recent days those who have sent messages on social media about the condition of Sibolga and Central Tapanuli are because they are also outside the region or have a Stralink network,” he said.
“Because of how many days until now the electricity went out and the cellular network went down, I was only able to contact my family in Tapteng after my relatives used Starlink,” he added.
Bakhtiar hopes that Syukri is safe and can be found soon.He also expressed prayers for the people of Sibolga and Central Tapanuli who are currently affected by floods and landslides.
“That is information about the Mayor. Hopefully everything is fine for the residents of Sibolga and Central Tapanuli,” he said.
