“Meanwhile, 16 other people are still declared missing,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a written statement.
Muhari said that the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Basarnas had decided to extend the search period for the next three days.
“With this extension, joint teams will now be deployed simultaneously in three sectors, no longer taking turns as in previous days,” he said
Muhari added that his party also carried out weather modification operations by sprinkling Calcium Oxide (CaO) seed material to prevent the formation of rain clouds.
“It is hoped that this synergy between air and ground operations can speed up emergency management of the Banjarnegara landslide disaster, starting from searching and helping victims, fulfilling the basic needs of affected residents, to recovery efforts,” he said.
Previously, a landslide hit Pandanarum Village on Sunday (16/11) which was thought to have been triggered by very high rainfall which poured down the hilly area for more than several hours.
