Rafael Struick managed to score a goal for
U-23 Indonesian National Team
against Mali U-23 in a trial match which ended 2-2 at Pakansari Stadium, Tuesday (18/11).
This is Struick’s fifth goal for Indonesia U-23.The other four goals were scored while appearing in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification (two goals) and 2024 U-23 Asian Cup (two goals).
This means that this is Struick’s first goal with Indonesia U-23 in 2025. Previously, when Indonesia U-23 was still handled by Gerald Vanenburg, this Dewa United player had not yet recorded his name on the scoreboard.

After the match, Struick was grateful to be able to score another goal. However, it was not this goal that made him happy, but rather the increasingly solid game of Indonesia U-23.
“As you saw today, we have a very good team, we have quality. I think there are still some players who will come, who have not yet come,” said Struick.
“So, I think we have a very good chance. We have to get 100 percent [team strength] and we come [to Thailand] for the gold medal,” he said.
Two years ago, when Indonesia U-23 won the gold medal in Cambodia, Struick was not part of the team.At that time, Struick was not released by his club because the SEA Games were outside FIFA’s agenda.
Now Struick performs domestically, so he is no longer constrained by club permits. In fact, for the sake of the 2025 SEA Games, Indonesia’s highest caste football competition was canceled.
Will the 2025 SEA Games gold medal be won?Anything can happen and it depends on the player’s fighting spirit and the clever strategy implemented by Indra Sjafri.
