Cilacap Landslide Update: 13 Killed and 10 Residents Missing

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that on Sunday (16/11) evening the number of victims who died had risen to 13 people due to
landslide
in Cibeunying Village, Cilacap, Central Java after the discovery of two buried bodies on the fourth day.Meanwhile, the number of people still being searched for is 10 people.
Previously, BNPB stated that the number of victims was 11 people and 10 people were missing.

The search team on Sunday was supported by 22 excavator bucket type heavy equipment since morning which helped facilitate the search for victims.Apart from the additional equipment, this operation was also supported by 1,001 personnel from various components and 9 K9s.
BNPB has also carried out weather modification operations (OMC) to support emergency handling since Sunday morning.Seedling material in the form of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and Calcium Oxide (CaO) totaling 3 tonnes was sown via three flights using a Cessna PK-SNM aircraft from Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung to areas of potential increased rainfall in the affected areas.
The local village government has provided evacuation sites at the Cibeunying Village Hall and the MTS SS Cibeunying building.Residents use these two locations as temporary shelter, especially at night.
BNPB has also handed over assistance to residents in the form of 200 basic food packages, 100 blankets, 100 mattresses and 200 pax of ready-to-eat food.Apart from that, it is said that there is one refugee tent unit, 20 family tent units, one alkon pump unit, four light tower units, and two alkon pump units.
The Regent of Cilacap has declared an emergency status for floods and landslides for 30 days, starting from November 14 to December 14 2025.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, in his official statement, said that the weather around Cilacap, especially in Majenang District and its surroundings, is predicted to still have the potential for rain with light to high intensity.
“BNPB urges local residents, especially in affected areas, to always increase awareness of the potential risk of subsequent landslides or flash floods.”he said.
