“This is also at the direction of the President (Prabowo Subianto), it must be utilized, not just burned. We think about it, ‘Sir, can we re-chop it?’, he said,” explained Purbaya in a Media Briefing at the Ministry of Finance, Central Jakarta, Friday (14/11).
“So, we met with AGTI (Indonesian Garment and Textile Association), offering ‘Can they re-chop the balpres?’. Later they will use some of it, some of it will be sold to MSMEs at low prices. They want it, there are several entrepreneurs who are ready,” he stressed.
Purbaya and AGTI met at the Ministry of Finance last Tuesday (4/11).He said the Ministry of Finance would meet again with the textile entrepreneurs next week.
The State Treasurer wants an official decision regarding the implementation of the enumeration of illegally imported clothes. He even ordered his men to immediately remove the confiscated goods from the warehouse.
He explained that the census was useful because it could provide raw materials for local entrepreneurs. On the other hand, MSMEs can get raw materials at cheaper costs.
“I have also spoken with the Minister of UMKM, Mr. Maman (Abdurrahman), he agrees with this kind of collaboration. Because he is the one who knows the name of the UMKM, I don’t know. Later the distribution of the UMKM will be through the Minister of UMKM,” said Purbaya.
Purbaya also revealed the reason why he only collaborated with AGTI, even though there are many textile and textile clothing associations (TPT) in Indonesia. He said this execution was in accordance with the enumeration tool that AGTI members claimed to have.
President Prabowo Subianto’s subordinates are also worried that this program will not work if it involves too many parties.
However, Purbaya does not close the door to textile associations who are able to help enumerate these illegally imported goods. To Purbaya’s knowledge, there are only 5 companies that have the necessary enumeration technology.
“I think that if AGTI is running, that’s enough, then the goods will run out. We don’t keep importing second-hand goods. Once it’s finished, it’s finished, right? It shouldn’t take long for it to run out (illegally imported goods),” stressed the minister.
