A number of video recordings that went viral on social media showed the 758 meter long bridge bending before finally collapsing into the river below, causing concrete rubble and thick dust to rise high.
The incident occurred at around 15:00 local time, near the G317 national road, according to reports
China Central Television (CCTV) News.
The local transportation and public safety agency said the slope on the right side of the bridge showed signs of deformation Monday afternoon, just hours before the bridge collapsed.
Authorities quickly closed bridge access to all vehicles and issued a public warning regarding potential safety risks.

This bridge consists of a two-lane beam with a cantilever structure that rises approximately 625 meters above the bottom of the ravine, with support pillars up to 172 meters high.The construction of this bridge was carried out by the state-owned company, Sichuan Road & Bridge Group, as part of efforts to expand access to the Tibetan Plateau.

State media has not revealed the exact cause of the collapse, but initial assessments suggest that geological instability likely played a role in the incident.
Officials said there were no vehicles or pedestrians on the bridge at the time of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
