Previously, Medan Police Chief Commissioner Calvijn Simanjuntak revealed that up to now investigators have examined 39 witnesses to reveal the cause of the fire that hit judge Khamozaro Waruwu’s private house in the Taman Harapan Indah Complex, Medan Selayang, on Tuesday (4/11/2025).
“A total of 39 witnesses have been questioned. They consist of victim witnesses, firefighters, security officers, complex residents, P3SU cleaning service officers, and even the head of the environment,” said Calvijn in Medan.
Calvijn explained that investigators are currently combining the results of the crime scene investigation with forensic laboratory examinations and identification from INAFIS.This step is taken to determine the exact cause of the fire.
“This process must be careful. We arrange it deductively to inductively, starting from the area outside the complex to inside the house,” he explained.
Calvijn said that some of the CCTV cameras in the front area of the house were not working, but the team was still able to obtain footage from a number of points around the complex.
“We have checked several CCTVs. Even though some were damaged, we also took footage from the outer layer of the complex to compare with other facts on the ground,” he said.
When asked whether the fire was caused intentionally or purely by accident, Calvijn did not want to speculate.”We ask for time. Investigators don’t want to rush to conclusions before all the facts really match up,” he stressed.
It is known that the burned house belonged to Judge Khamozaro Waruwu, Chair of the Panel of Judges in the road project corruption case in North Sumatra with the defendant Akhirun Piliang alias Kirun, Main Director of PT Dalihan Natolu Group (DNG), and Muhammad Rayhan Dulasmi Piliang, Director of PT Rona Na Mora (RNM).
The case handled by Khamozaro also involved the name of the former Head of the North Sumatra PUPR Service, Topan Ginting, who is known to be close to Governor Bobby Nasution. This case is the result of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Arrest Operation (OTT).
During the trial, judge Khamozaro Waruwu ordered the KPK prosecutor to present North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution as a witness in the trial.Because it was revealed that there had been a budget shift from a number of agencies in the North Sumatra Provincial Government to the PUPR Service of the North Sumatra Provincial Government which was used as the basis for the road construction budget.
