Didik explained that the perpetrators used social media accounts to carry out illegal adoption transactions.
These accounts are currently being examined by the cyber team to trace the possibility that other networks are involved.
“From the Regional Police, in collaboration with Cyber Bareskrim, we continue to trace the accounts that are used as sales tools. If there are any developments, including where the children who have been used as objects for illegal adoption are, we will inform them,” he said.
Until now, said Didik, there are still three children of suspect SY (30) who are in the process of being searched.
Meanwhile, the other two children have been secured in a safe house and are receiving assistance from the Makassar PPA unit together with related agencies.
“We have secured two children in a safe house, while the other three are still under investigation. Assistance for the victim children is also continuing,” he said.
Bilqis was taken from Makassar to Jakarta via the airport, Didik said, his party coordinated with the airport to determine whether the suspects used fake data so that the victim could be flown from Makassar to Jambi.
“Later we will check again whether they are using fake data. Usually the children don’t have personal identification, but we will still investigate with the airport,” he explained.
Due to this incident, the South Sulawesi Regional Police also increased outreach to schools through Bhabinkamtibmas so that supervision of children was increasingly tightened.
“We urge parents not to be careless in supervising their children, especially those who are still toddlers. We also ask schools to ensure that children are not picked up by strangers,” he said.
