Chamber of Commerce and Industry (
Chamber of Commerce
) Indonesia proposes President
Prabowo Subianto
to add economic stimulus ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays in order to boost
people’s purchasing power
which is weakening.
Deputy General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for National Development Planning (Bippenas-Kadin Indonesia) Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono highlighted that consumption was only able to grow 4.98 percent throughout the third quarter of 2025. He believes that the government needs to boost people’s purchasing power towards the end of the year.
“The 8+4+5 economic stimulus is quite good, for example the internship program
fresh graduate
which was welcomed by 156 thousand registrants, but Kadin also hopes that the government will complete it with a tourism stimulus package that can encourage an increase
traveling
and welcome the 2025 Christmas Holiday,” said Bayu Priawan in a written statement, Tuesday (11/11).

Apart from that, he hopes that the government can also increase national productivity so that economic growth can be boosted to catch up with Vietnam, which has previously reached 8 percent since the second quarter of 2025.
“So far, economic growth has been mainly driven by increased capital/investment input and additional workforce. Based on APO Databook 2025 data, the contribution of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) to Indonesia’s economic growth is almost zero, while the TFP contribution to Vietnam’s economic growth reached 8 percent, let alone China’s 26 percent. From now on we must focus more on synergizing to increase productivity so that we can achieve 8 percent growth as soon as possible,” he explained.
Chairman of the Standing Committee for Economic Planning of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ikhwan Primanda, highlighted productivity
output
Nominal GDP per Indonesian worker averages only IDR 13.78 million per month.
He said the four economic sectors with the highest GDP productivity per worker were the mining sector,
real estate
, information and communications, as well as the electricity and gas supply sector.
According to him, these four sectors have high productivity because they are technology intensive and capital intensive, and require highly educated, skilled human resources to run them.
“Indonesia must encourage investment that brings appropriate and effective technology to increase the productivity of various economic sectors, while ensuring the transfer of technology to local players,” he explained.
Primanda hopes that the government will continue to encourage synergies to strengthen national industry. This is because Indonesia’s largest economic contributor is the processing industry sector with a contribution of 19.15 percent to GDP.
In the third quarter of 2025, the processing or manufacturing industry also managed to grow 5.54 percent (yoy) and the Indonesian Manufacturing PMI has also shown an expansion level since August and reached 51.2 in September 2025.
“National Industrial Transformation must continue by encouraging the emergence of raw materials, intermediate materials and downstream industries that can absorb a lot of workers,” said Primanda.
From the food side, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Food Planning Standing Committee, Frans Tambunan, said that agriculture is the second largest sector with a contribution of 14.35 percent to Indonesia’s GDP.However, this sector was only able to grow 4.93 percent.Even though this sector absorbs 28.15 percent of Indonesian workers, it needs to be given more attention.
“Indonesia must continue to encourage agricultural modernization through innovation and investment in appropriate technology, as well as increasing production through land optimization and opening new agricultural land and plantations. Apart from that, the fisheries sector also needs to be encouraged to make Indonesia a world food basket,” he concluded.
