“He (the victim) is still a minor, so he immediately entered his identity without needing an ID card,” he said.
Investigators revealed the whereabouts of the perpetrator in Jambi with the help of local parties.
Apart from that, CCTV footage showing three children with suspect SY (30) was also confirmed.The two children in the recording are SY’s biological children.
“They (the children of the perpetrators) are now being kept in a safe house from the Social Service. For treatment so that they are not traumatized, while they are at home safe. Their families are still there,” he explained.
Criminal Investigation Unit also confirmed that a man who was previously seen with the suspect, SY, was not involved.
Investigators only named four suspects, namely three women, namely, SY (30) a resident of Makassar, NH (29) a resident of Sukoharjo, Central Java, and MA (42) a resident of Jambi and a man AS (36) a resident of Jambi.
“That was his girlfriend. He didn’t know directly, wasn’t involved,” he said.
Devi said investigators found that communication between the suspects occurred through a Facebook group before continuing to private messages.
“All the suspects did not previously know each other. The motive for the crime is thought to be purely economic. Based on (SY)’s examination, this is the first time. Economic, yes,” he said.
According to Devi, similar cases previously reported in Makassar mostly stemmed from family conflicts.However, in this case, the investigation confirmed that there was no such element.
“Initially the suspicion was that it was a family problem, but after further investigation there was nothing. That’s why this case is of concern,” he said.
