The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has urged the European Football Association (FAI) to
UEFA
) punished Israel for the attacks carried out by the Zionist country on
Palestine
.
The FAI board approved a resolution instructing its representatives to submit a formal motion to UEFA to immediately punish Israel. The punishment is in the form of a suspension or ban from playing for Israel and the country’s teams from all European competitions.
The FAI’s decision was based on violations by the Israeli Football Association (IFA) of two provisions of the UEFA statute, namely failure to implement and enforce an effective anti-racism policy and Israeli clubs playing in Palestinian territory without the approval of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA).

Reporting from

, the FAI resolution was supported by 74 votes.Meanwhile there were seven votes against, and two abstentions.
This resolution from Ireland follows calls from Turkish and Norwegian football bodies last September calling for Israel to be suspended from international football competitions.
The request came after experts at the United Nations asked FIFA and UEFA to punish Israel on the international football stage on the grounds that the Zionist country had committed genocide during the war in Gaza.
Israel is destroying life in Palestine, including on the gridiron. There were 421 Palestinian football athletes killed after the invasion in October 2023.
In October 2025, more than 30 legal experts also asked UEFA to exclude Israel and clubs from those countries due to bombings in Palestine.
So far, various pressures on UEFA and FIFA to punish Israel have yielded no results.Even FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, called the voices of support for Palestine a geopolitical issue.
“We are committed to using the power of football to unite people in a divided world,” Infantino said.
