“BNI views that post-disaster recovery must be carried out comprehensively. Not only rebuilding physically, but also ensuring that the mental health and psychosocial well-being of children as the future generation is maintained,” said Okki in a written statement.
This trauma healing activity was one of the quick impacts of a series of BNI Sharing programs carried out at the BUMN Volunteer Post in Leuser Village.By involving facilitators experienced in assisting children in disaster areas, this activity is designed as a safe space so that children can play, interact and express their feelings positively again.
Through play, art and social interaction approaches, children are gradually encouraged to reduce fear, channel emotions and rebuild self-confidence after a disaster.Various activities are carried out, ranging from simple group games, singing, to song movements which aim to create a safe atmosphere and support the psychological recovery process.
“Warm and empathetic interactions between volunteers and children are an important part of this assistance, so that the recovery process can run naturally and sustainably,” added Okki.
The presence of BUMN volunteers with BNI Sharing among the children of Leuser Village also conveyed the message that the affected communities were not alone in facing difficult post-disaster situations.Children as a vulnerable group need special assistance so that recovery can take place completely, both physically and psychosocially.
In the future, similar activities will be gradually expanded to other BNI posts in the Southeast Aceh, North Aceh and Aceh Tamiang regions, in line with BNI’s commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable recovery for disaster-affected communities.
Through the BNI Sharing program and BUMN Cares synergy, BNI emphasizes its commitment to continue to play an active role in supporting post-disaster recovery, believing that restoring the psychological condition of children is an important foundation for the revival of a more resilient society.
