The seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (
Jokowi
) admitted that he could forgive a number of parties he reported to the police in a case of defamation related to allegations of fake diplomas.
However, he ensured that the legal process would continue.

“The matter of forgiveness is a personal matter. Legal matters are legal matters. Let the process proceed as it is, OK,” he said to media crew in the Sumber area, Banjarsari, Wednesday (24/12) as quoted from

He reiterated that the legal process would continue even though the reported party had been forgiven personally.
The father of the Indonesian Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, also asked to respect the ongoing legal process.
“Once again, forgiveness is a personal matter, if it’s a legal matter, then it’s a legal matter. We respect the existing legal process,” he explained.
When asked further who would be forgiven, he answered, “Yes, later, later, later.”
“Yes, it’s genuine. Once again, matters of forgiveness and forgiveness are personal matters. Legal matters, yes, legal matters. But if there is room to forgive, why don’t we do it too. Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had named eight suspects divided into two clusters in connection with the alleged case of Jokowi’s fake diploma.
The first cluster consists of five suspects, namely Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Damai Hari Lubis, Rustam Effendi and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah.
Then the second cluster consisted of three suspects, namely Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar and Tifauziah Tyassuma alias Dr Tifa.
Polda Metro Jaya also banned Roy Suryo and seven other suspects from leaving the country.Apart from being banned, the suspects are also required to report once a week every Thursday.
