Gusnar Ismail sets the provincial minimum wage (
UMP
) Gorontalo 2026 rose 5.7 percent or IDR 183 thousand to IDR 3,405,144.
The 2025 Gorontalo UMP is IDR 3,221,731.
“We have set the 2026 UMP at IDR 3,405,144. When compared with the 2025 UMP, there is an increase of approximately IDR 183,413 or an increase of 5.7 percent, so this UMP figure is above the needs of a decent living for the people of Gorontalo Province,” said Gusnar in a written statement, Tuesday (23/12).

The determination of the 2026 UMP, said Gusnar, is based on the mandate of PP Number 49 of 2025, where Article 26 states that the governor is obliged to determine the UMP and Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMS).
“Before being determined by the governor, the 2026 UMP amount for Gorontalo Province was discussed through the Provincial Wage Council, which resulted in three alternative UMP amounts recommended by workers, entrepreneurs and government elements that are currently being used,” he said.
Gusnar explained that in determining the UMP, the Gorontalo Wage Council followed a calculation formula from the central government which combines inflation figures, economic growth and alpha values in the range of 0.5 to 0.9.
“The minimum wage is determined based on an agreement between employers and workers at at least 50 percent of the decent quality of life (KHL) limit,” he explained.
By determining the amount of the UMP, Gusnar said that the district and city governments in Gorontalo could immediately determine it.
“It is also hoped that all entrepreneurs will comply with this determination and they are prohibited from paying lower than the stipulated UMP amount,” he concluded.
